  • you have cardiogenic shock or second- or third-degree atrioventricular (AV) block and do not have a pacemaker

Contact your doctor or health care provider right away if any of these apply to you.

  • if you are pregnant, planning to become pregnant, or are breast-feeding
  • if you are taking any prescription or nonprescription medicine, herbal preparation, or dietary supplement
  • if you have allergies to medicines, foods, or other substances
  • if you have other heart problems (eg, heart block or AV block, conductions problems), congestive heart failure, or a pacemaker

How to use Mexiletine :

Use Mexiletine as directed by your doctor. Check the label on the medicine for exact dosing instructions.

  • Take Mexiletine with food or antacids.
  • Take Mexiletine regularly to receive the most benefit from it. Taking Mexiletine at the same time each day will help you remember to take it.
  • Continue to use Mexiletine even if you feel well. Do not miss any doses.
  • If you miss a dose of Mexiletine , take it as soon as possible. If it is almost time for your next dose, skip the missed dose and go back to your regular dosing schedule. Do not take 2 doses at once.

Ask your health care provider any questions you may have about how to use Mexiletine.

  • my male beta has columnaris but im limited on meds pls help?
hi, i have a male betta which i bought from a petstore which had them each put in a no more than 1 inch high plastic cup. ive had him for a month so far and a couple weeks ago i noticed that there are white little spots on his face, then it soon became more severe at the mouth, his mouth is all white except for the cheeks to have white spots. ive researched enough to find out that my betta has columnaris, now i know that there is a special fish anti-biotic but im currently living in Syria and here tropical fish/pet fish in general medication (such as aquarium salt and tetracyllin fish anti-biotic) is not available because these people are ignorant. what i do have under my disposal is Iodized salt and an anti-biotic capsule (500mg Amoxycillin). what i did to help him is i open the capsule and pour a little bit of the powder + a tablespoon of Iodized salt and stir-mix them together in a "hospital" 1 litre jar, filled with 80f temp- water. -continued- so hes been in this jar for a week now and im changing the water 1-2 times a day and re-apply the salt/anti-biotic powder mix. so far i have not seen a vast improvment. he is slightly more active and does not eat alot at all, i feed him crushed fish flake (thats the only food available for him) and he only eats a tiny piece or two. the white stuff still there, and i noticed that when he flares with his cheeks i can see very noticable white behind those cheeks. i want to try my best to cure him. i feel sorry i cant get meds the US as im prolly not gonna be there till summertime. will this work? any helpful advice on what to do for him or what substitute med i can use will be appreciated. heres a couple macro shots of his face: http://i2.tinypic.com/71cnkhx.jpg http://i6.tinypic.com/7wgbi9h.jpg thanks!
